Childrens’ Book Week 2013

In my hunt for books that will interest MilkyBar and get him to continue reading on his own, I came across the Childrens Book Week 2013. This reading initiative based in the US is an annual event and was first established in 1919 (!).

Books from the Childrens and Teens categories are nominated and voted by the readers. For this year, the nominees for K-2nd Grade are:mike

Big Mean Mike (by Michelle Knudsen and Scott Magoon)

duckling_cookie_lgThe Duckling gets a Cookie?! (by Mo Willems)

boboI’ll Save You Bobo! (by Eileen and Mark Rosenthal)

ninjaNight time Ninja (by Barbara DaCosta and Ed Young)

pete catPete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons (by Eric Litwin and James Dean)

Will definitely add these titles to MilkyBar’s reading list and try to borrow them from our library. I think he will especially like the Night time Ninja book as he is into ninjas at the moment (he’s been watching Ninja Warrior and we are reading Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventures #3: The Japanese Ninja Surprise). There are also learning resources to go with the titles so will check them out when I get the books.
